What is the average weight loss within first six months of having a gastric bypass?
Answer:
In one study, the mean percentage of excess weight loss following surgery for gastric bypass is 10.5% at 2 weeks after surgery, 21.4% at 6 weeks, 30.9% at 3 months, 45.4% at 6 months, 53.6% at 9 months, and 55.5% at 12 months. Please note that this is percentage of excess weight, not total weight.
It depends on the type of gastric bypass. With the DDS, I know it can be about 100 pounds or more in the first year.
You might want to try asking in a better venue like
Obesityhelp.com
they know about that kind of stuff.
